What We Do

  • Why LHP?

Latina women in the United States face a unique set of health challenges. They are disproportionately affected by chronic conditions such as obesity and type 2 diabetes; disparities that are not only medical but deeply structural. These health outcomes are shaped by socioeconomic inequities, cultural and linguistic barriers, as well as limited access to preventive care and education. Conventional health programs often fail to meet the particular needs of this population, resulting in fewer prevention tools, lower engagement, and a greater risk of long-term complications.

  • Our Mission

The Latina Health Project is dedicated to closing these gaps by equipping nonprofits and community-based organizations with culturally tailored, evidence-based health education and lifestyle programs we’ve developed specifically for Hispanic women in America. Our initiatives are rooted in scientific research, shaped by community input, and built for long-term sustainability and scalability. Each partnership is developed to reflect the unique context of the communities our partners serve, ensuring that the content is practical, accessible, and easily integrated into community members' daily lives.

  • Core Program

Our core program features a three-part bilingual and bicultural workshop series led and delivered by the Latina Health Project, either virtually or in person at no cost to our partners. These interactive sessions serve as an entry point for your community members, designed to be easily adopted, implemented, and sustained for long-term health engagement. The workshops focus on the key areas of nutrition, physical activity, and wellness including stress management and sleep, addressing modifiable risk factors critical to chronic disease prevention. The workshop series can be delivered by LHP in English or Spanish.

  • Post Program

To support program continuity and scalability following the workshop series, we provide partner organizations with access to a comprehensive digital resource hub that includes:

Culturally responsive curricula and implementation toolkits tailored to the common needs and preferences of Hispanic communities

Comprehensive facilitator guides, adaptable program templates, outreach and engagement materials ready to be shared with community members

Online events open to community members nationwide and in-person community events (currently: NY, FL)

Community member access to our Wellness Club

  • Program Outcomes

In current and past implementations, our programs have demonstrated the following key outcomes via participant surveys, partner feedback, and engagement metrics:

80% of participants reported increased knowledge of nutrition, physical activity, and chronic disease prevention

72% of participants reported making at least one positive lifestyle change (e.g., increased physical activity, improved dietary habits) within 6 weeks of program completion

98% of community partners indicated they would continue the program independently with access to our ongoing support and materials

90% program retention rate, indicating strong community engagement and relevance

  • Community Impact

With a growing network of partners across the nation, we are committed to expanding our programming to new regions, strengthening our digital infrastructure for broader access, and investing in long-term capacity-building for community-based organizations. Through our culturally responsive, community-informed, and data-driven approach, our partners have the opportunity to advance health equity for one of the fastest-growing populations in the U.S., while contributing to measurable and lasting public health outcomes.

Our scalable model ensures that the impact of our work extends well beyond the core program, deepening our ability to reduce health disparities, promote equity, and drive sustainable change in the lives of Latina women and their families nationwide.
